Jim Pomeroy was a true American motocross legend, the "real deal". He was the "first American" to win a world FIM GP in
1973. But more recently, Jim came to vintage racing with a passion.
We collectively in VMX got to meet this past legend, and learned he was a genuine, warm, and charismatic person. He
loved being involved in our sport, and befriended all he met. Jim never had a mean word to say, and he had 30+ years of
stories that never ended.
Jim lived his life to the fullest, always seeking a good time, sharing his fun and passion with us over 4 great seasons. He
was the first to have fun at the evening festivities, but when he got back on the track in the +50 Expert class, his brilliance
was seldom exceeded.
Those of us who had the privilege to get to know Jim, share fellowship on our race weekends, and watch him ride were truly
blessed. Jim loved us, and we loved Jim back, he was an unforgettable man.
We mourn his loss, but are grateful to have experienced this great guy, motocross legend, VMX racer, and forever "our
friend" Bimbo. In 2006, I personally got to spend some time with Jim at Diamond Don's & Casey nationals, it was an honor
and a pleasure, now a memory I will always have for sure.
This page is to remember the life and accomplishments of Jim Pomeroy, embrace the 4 years we got to know him, and
celebrate the fantastic opportunities like this that VMX racing and camaraderie makes possible!!
We Remember....
